HighSummary
This one is largely correct. Google did release Gemini 3.7 Flash on August 13, 2026, and the quoted price of $0.75 per million input tokens and $3.75 per million output tokens matches Google's own developer documentation exactly. Claude Sonnet 5, GPT-5.6 Terra, and Muse Spark 1.2 are all real models, and all three currently cost more per token, so the undercutting claim is accurate as of mid-August 2026. The important thing the post leaves out is that this is a promotional launch price that Google says expires on December 31, 2026, after which the rate doubles to $1.50 and $7.50. That matters, because at the higher rate Gemini would actually cost more than Meta's Muse Spark 1.2, one of the three models it is described as undercutting. Meta also sells the same Muse model on a cheaper tier at $0.10 and $0.20 per million tokens, in exchange for allowing your prompts to be used for training. Separately, on the independent Artificial Analysis intelligence ranking, Gemini 3.7 Flash scores 56, which is ahead of Sonnet 5 but slightly behind both GPT-5.6 Terra and Muse Spark 1.2, so the price advantage is not matched by a lead on that composite score.

Evidence
The model exists and the price is correct as stated, but with a time limit the claim does not mention.
Google's own developer documentation states the terms plainly: Gemini 3.7 Flash will be available at an introductory price of $0.75/1M input tokens and $3.75/1M output tokens, and Google is also applying this new rate to 3.6 Flash. Introductory pricing expires on December 31, 2026, after which $1.50/1M input tokens and $7.50/1M output tokens will apply. The Google Cloud pricing page states the same: Gemini 3.7 Flash and Gemini 3.6 Flash are offered with introductory pricing of $0.75 / $3.75 per 1M tokens input / output through December 31, 2026, and starting January 1, 2027, standard pricing of $1.5 / $7.5 per 1M tokens will apply.
On the launch itself, 9to5Google reported that just three weeks after the last release, Google announced Gemini 3.7 Flash, continuing the company's accelerated cadence, a model Google attributes to developer feedback and algorithmic innovations. Google's own docs describe it as the next iteration in the Gemini 3 series of highly-capable, natively multimodal, reasoning models, and Google Cloud documentation calls it the high-efficiency, cost-effective model of the Gemini 3 family, positioned as the primary agentic workhorse.
The three named rivals are all real models, and all three carry higher standard per-token prices. Anthropic's own docs record that the $2/$10 per million input/output token pricing for Claude Sonnet 5, announced at launch as introductory pricing through August 31, 2026, is now the standard price. For OpenAI, one trade source reports that OpenAI cut Terra by 20% to $2.00 in and $12.00 out per 1M tokens on July 30, 2026. For Meta, VentureBeat reported the standard tier is priced at $1.25 per million input tokens and $4.25 per million output tokens, with cached input at $0.15, a figure Artificial Analysis independently lists: Muse Spark 1.2 (xhigh) costs $1.25 per 1M input tokens and $4.25 per 1M output tokens, based on Meta's API.
So at the current promotional rate, the undercutting is real across all three, as secondary coverage summarizes: the price undercuts both GPT-5.6 Terra ($2.00 input / $12.00 output) and Claude Sonnet 5 ($2.00 input / $10.00 output) by a wide margin, and even comes in cheaper than Muse Spark 1.2 ($1.25 input / $4.25 output).
Two pieces of context the claim does not carry. First, Meta ships a second, far cheaper SKU of the same model: the contributor tier is priced at $0.10 per million input tokens and $0.20 per million output tokens, roughly 12x and 21x cheaper than standard, with an explicit data trade-off, since Meta lists Muse Spark 1.2 twice, one SKU at $1.25 per million input tokens that does not train on your data, and the other at $0.10 that does. Second, on the independent composite, Gemini 3.7 Flash does not lead this group: Artificial Analysis found Gemini 3.7 Flash (high) scores 56 on its Intelligence Index, just behind GPT-5.6 Terra (max, 57) and Muse Spark 1.2 (xhigh, 57), and ahead of Claude Sonnet 5 (55) and its own predecessor Gemini 3.6 Flash (52).
The caption's Reuters attribution also checks out. The Reuters exclusive of August 12 reports that by August, Google had delayed the new flagship version of Gemini by two months after internal testing showed its performance continued to lag behind rivals in areas such as coding, according to sources familiar with the matter. The quoted wording in the caption matches.
Findings
✓ What's accurate 6
- Google did launch Gemini 3.7 Flash. It is documented on Google's own API docs, Cloud docs, pricing page, and DeepMind model card. Announced August 13, 2026.
- The price figures are exactly right for today: $0.75 per million input tokens and $3.75 per million output tokens.
- All three named comparators are real, currently shipping models from Anthropic, OpenAI, and Meta respectively. None is invented.
- At the current rate, Gemini 3.7 Flash does undercut the standard list price of all three on both input and output tokens.
- "Mid-sized" is a fair characterization. Independent benchmarking places all four in the same band, with a one to two point spread on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index.
- The caption's separate Reuters quotation about a two-month flagship delay is accurately quoted from the August 12 Reuters exclusive.
≈ What's misleading 4
- Omitted qualifier: the claim says the model is "priced at" $0.75 / $3.75 with no time limit. Google's own documentation states this is an introductory price that expires December 31, 2026, after which the rate doubles to $1.50 / $7.50. A reader planning 2027 capacity from this post would budget at half the real cost.
- Omitted qualifier, second instance, and this one changes a comparison outcome: at the post-January 1 standard rate of $1.50 / $7.50, Gemini 3.7 Flash would be MORE expensive than Muse Spark 1.2's standard tier at $1.25 / $4.25 on both input and output. One of the three "undercut" rivals is undercut only for the duration of the promotion, which the claim does not mention.
- Benchmark cherry picking, applied to the comparator set rather than the metric: the comparison is against Muse Spark 1.2's standard tier only. Meta ships the same checkpoint at $0.10 / $0.20 on its contributor tier, which is several times cheaper than Gemini 3.7 Flash even at the promotional price. The contributor tier carries a real data-training trade-off, so the standard tier is a defensible comparator, but presenting Gemini as the cheapest option in this group without noting the cheaper SKU of a model it names is a favorable framing.
- Temporal overreach: a promotional launch-window price is presented as the model's price, a durable property. Google applied the same promotional rate retroactively to Gemini 3.6 Flash, which further indicates this is a pricing campaign rather than a permanent repositioning of the 3.7 tier.
? What's uncertain 4
- GPT-5.6 Terra's current official list price. Google's table and multiple trade sources put it at $2.00 / $12.00 after a July 30 cut, but OpenAI's own pricing page was not retrieved, and third-party listings disagree sharply: OpenRouter lists $1 / $6 and one aggregator lists $0.50 / $3.00. The undercutting claim survives even at the lowest of these figures on input, but the exact margin against Terra is not pinned.
- Reseller aggregator prices generally. OpenRouter lists Gemini 3.7 Flash at $0.375 / $1.875, which is half Google's own stated rate. I could not determine what that reflects. Vendor pages are the record here; the aggregators are noted only as a discrepancy.
- The benchmark table reproduced in the post. I confirmed the model card exists and that its methodology URL is genuine and is cited on DeepMind's own Gemini page, but I did not retrieve the table itself, so I am not verifying the individual benchmark figures shown in the image. The claim under investigation is a price claim, so this does not bear on the verdict.
- Whether the promotional price will in fact end on December 31. Anthropic made Sonnet 5's introductory rate permanent rather than letting it lapse, so intro rates in this market do sometimes stick. Google's stated policy today is that it doubles.
